Are you a wedding photographer trying to figure out how to sell yourself as a wedding photographer? You’re not alone. Many photographers focus heavily on marketing and bringing in leads, but what happens once those inquiries roll in? This blog post will walk you through the exact steps you need to take to convert more leads into bookings.
Marketing vs. Sales
Selling yourself as a wedding photographer isn’t the same as marketing your business. Marketing helps you get inquiries, but once they’re in your inbox, how do you close the deal? This is where conversion for wedding photographers comes into play. The key here is shifting the focus from just talking about your work to showing clients how you will make their wedding day unique.
“Selling your services is about more than just showing your portfolio. It’s about demonstrating how you’ll be a part of their day.” By offering a personalized wedding timeline or a wedding vision board, you shift the focus to their wedding and how you will bring their vision to life.
Create a Wedding Timeline
One of my favorite ways to sell myself during a consultation call is by creating a wedding timeline for each client. This custom timeline shows that I’m already thinking about their big day. Whether they’re having a first look or opting for a more traditional timeline, walking them through this during a consultation helps them see how I’ll be there for every special moment.
“This is more than just selling your photography—it’s about selling your ability to plan, guide, and document their wedding day seamlessly.”
Craft a Wedding Vision Board
Another great way to sell yourself is by creating a wedding vision board. I do this using Canva to pull in inspiration photos, their wedding colors, and even images from their chosen venue. This gives the couple a tangible vision of how their day will look through my lens. Clients love seeing that you’re not only thinking about the technical aspects but also the creative elements of their day.
Why These Steps Work
Both of these methods—timelines and vision boards—help couples see you not just as a wedding photographer but as someone who cares about their day. Selling yourself is less about your skills and more about how you can bring their wedding vision to life.
