Cull a FULL Wedding with Me in Aftershoot

As a wedding photographer, culling a massive collection of images after a wedding can feel overwhelming. In this post, I’m sharing how I use Aftershoot to streamline the culling process, making it more efficient while ensuring I don’t miss any important moments. In the video Cull a Full Wedding with Me in Aftershoot, I demonstrate the entire process—from filtering images by lens to narrowing them down to the final gallery.

How Aftershoot Helps Speed Up Culling

Aftershoot has been a game-changer in my workflow. In the video, I show how I use it to quickly select 1,537 images for the final gallery, cutting down on the hours I used to spend manually sifting through thousands of photos. Aftershoot’s AI does the heavy lifting by sorting out potential keepers, so I can focus on the final touches.

Filtering by Lens: Why It Makes a Difference

One of the tricks I love to use is filtering images by lens. As a photographer who uses multiple cameras and lenses throughout a wedding day, this helps me stay organized and efficient. I walk you through how I use Aftershoot to quickly sort through images by lens, ensuring I focus on the right shots for each part of the wedding day.

Dealing with Duplicates and Unnecessary Photos

Let’s face it—there are always duplicates or out-of-focus shots that need to be removed. I share my approach for eliminating these duplicates, as well as some funny or unexpected moments that might make it into the final gallery. While culling, I also take the time to review specific moments, such as the couple’s first dance or the sparkler exit, ensuring I choose only the best images to keep.

Fine-Tuning Your Selections: Why Fresh Eyes Matter

One of the best tips I share in the video is the importance of revisiting your photos after taking a break. When I cull, I like to take a pause after the ceremony and return the next day to finish the process with fresh eyes. It helps me spot new things that might have been missed in the first pass. This also applies when narrowing down a few hundred photos to the final gallery—fresh eyes can make all the difference in finding the gems.
